MODELLING THE EFFECT OF A PANDEMIC

ORUA has combined with colleagues from Te Pūnaha Matatini to model the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on New Zealand society and its healthcare system in order to help inform New Zealand’s response to the pandemic.

ORUA has been working with colleagues at Te Pūnaha Matatini to create models of COVID-19 spread and the consequent number of infected and hospitalised people in New Zealand. This work has been recognised both within New Zealand and internationally.

ORUA researchers worked with Assoc. Prof. Ilze Ziedins to model the effect of COVID-19 on New Zealand’s health system as well as some initial modelling of geographic/societal-based spread of COVID-19.
